Water holds memory
a poem by the river
(Trust me and play the song as you read this)
You live by the banks
of my stream of thoughts.
My water grows your garden,
washes your clothes,
scrubs your house clean,
Yet why do you not have time?
To sit still by my side?
I’ve been waiting,
patiently,
as the years add on to the last
I’ve never seen your face
But I remember its reflection.
Your wobbling image
working your youth away.
Getting further away from my reach.
I can’t carry your loneliness too.
The added cruelty of your burden
From one shore to another
So pick a side, for any would do
but please do come
to watch the sun glisten on my skin
turning my blues golden
Tell me,
Do you not see god?
You made it to the end! Thank you for reading <3 I think you are very cool.

you are definitely correct with how the song impacted the poem, I was in my feels x
"I've never seen your face / But I remember its reflection"..wow! its like tender and mournful in the way only nature can be. and the song? it deepened the poem's voice truly. beautiful work!
